11:04 AM EDT, 08/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates to include statement from Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) in the first to third paragraphs and the stock movement in the last paragraph.)
Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) said Thursday there's no ongoing work to change its "two bags fly free" policy.
"But it's important for us to know what our customers value most," Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) said in a statement emailed to MT Newswires. "We'll continue our efforts to track stakeholder sentiment on many aspects of our business model to ensure we remain competitive and current on customer preferences."
The airline said it regularly conducts surveys to guide its decisions on products and services.
Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) made the statement after MT Newswires sought comment on a Bloomberg report on Thursday on a survey about possible changes to the policy.
The questionnaire sought customer feedback on bag fees, travel habits, loyalty status benefits and booking preferences, the report said.
In the hypothetical bag policy, the cheapest fares include only a personal item and carry-on bag. The next tier has one free checked bag, while the higher fares would allow two free checked bags, the report said.
The survey was partly seen by Bloomberg and confirmed by the airline.
Shares of Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) were up 3.8% in recent Friday trading.
