Tesla (TSLA) Chief Executive Elon Musk's petition challenging the terms of a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission that mandated a lawyer must review some of his social media posts was denied by the Supreme Court on Monday.
Tesla's CEO argued that the consent decree in the settlement violated his First Amendment rights to speak on matters far beyond the charged violations.
His requests to terminate or modify the pre-approval requirement were previously turned down by US District Judge Lewis Liman in Manhattan in 2022 and a three-judge panel of the 2nd US Circuit of Appeals in 2023.
The Supreme Court declined to hear the case and left in place lower-court rulings against Musk.
Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
