Tower Semiconductor ( TSEM ) shares rose 6.1% in Monday trading after the company said it unveiled a 400 Gbps/lane data transmission through a silicon modulator installed in a silicon photonics process, in partnership with Coherent (COHR).

The demonstration used Coherent's InP CW high-power laser, the parties said, adding that they presented the details of the modulator last week at the Optical Fiber Communication conference.

Coherent shares were 2% higher in Monday trading.
