Apr 9, 2025 3:55 AM

06:26 AM EDT, 04/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with the official statement from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.)

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, or OCC, said Tuesday it has notified the Congress of a "major" e-mail hacking incident that exposed "highly sensitive information".

Bloomberg earlier reported, citing two people familiar with the matter, that hackers spied on e-mail accounts of about 100 bank regulators at the OCC for more than a year.

The OCC said the breach, which was first disclosed in February, involved information about the financial condition of federally regulated financial institutions.
