07:37 AM EDT, 09/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US government is planning to propose amendments to airworthiness regulations to "modernize" some certification standards for transport category airplanes and propulsion systems, according to a document published by the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
The proposal aims to reduce the number for exemptions, special conditions, and equivalent safety findings required during the certification process, the document said.
The Federal Aviation Administration expects that the changes would lower certification costs and shorten time to certify new and changed products, while "while maintaining or increasing the level of safety provided by the current regulations."
