06:57 AM EST, 11/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- A group of US lawmakers on Thursday introduced a bill in the House seeking to bar the acquisition of Chinese chipmaking equipment by CHIPS Act grant recipients for a decade, news outlets reported.
The bill targets complex lithography equipment and machines that slice and dice the silicon wafers on which chips are printed, among other items, Reuters reported.
Intel ( INTC ) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) are among the companies that have received grants under the law, according to the report. However, the US later turned Intel's ( INTC ) grant money into an equity interest, the news agency reported.
The bill reportedly would also blocks tools from Iran, Russia, North Korea and other counties of concern. However, it seeks to only block imports to the US and would not impact the foreign operations of CHIPS Act grant recipients.
Intel ( INTC ) and Taiwan Semiconductor didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
