NEW YORK, June 27 (Reuters) - The U.S. will need upwards
of 10 gigawatts of additional large nuclear capacity in the
coming years, power provider Southern Company ( SO ) CEO Chris
Womack said at a Reuters conference on Thursday.
Government incentives, including providing cost-overrun
insurance, would be needed to grow the country's nuclear
industry, Womack said. Other industries would also need to
invest to expand nuclear, particularly new technologies like
small modular reactors, he added.
