Walmart's Workers Union in Chile Calls Off Strike
Jul 16, 2024 7:50 AM

10:32 AM EDT, 07/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Walmart's ( WMT ) workers union in Chile has ended a strike, the union said Monday in a Facebook post.

"This agreement is painful, but necessary after six days of strike," the union said in a statement posted on the social network.

The union's current labor agreement with Walmart ( WMT ) has been extended for 18 months, the union said.

The union had launched the strike last week after talks with Walmart ( WMT ) failed, Reuters reported Tuesday, adding that the union said at the time that 75 supermarkets would be closed due to the strike and 82 stores would only operate partially.

Walmart ( WMT ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
