09:46 AM EDT, 06/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Wix.com ( WIX ) said Wednesday that it acquired artificial intelligence-backed platform Base44 for an initial consideration of about $80 million.

The company said it expects to make about $25 million in retention bonus payments for Base44 employees in 2025 as part of the initial consideration. Wix.com ( WIX ) also said the deal provides for additional earn-out payments through 2029 based on certain performance metrics.

Wix.com ( WIX ) expects the transaction to have "inconsequential contribution" to bookings and revenue in 2025 but did not disclose specific amounts.

Base44, which allows users to create code-free software and applications, will remain a distinct product and business, according to Wix.com ( WIX ).
