10:30 AM EST, 03/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Xcel Energy ( XEL ) said Thursday that its facilities were involved in an "ignition" of the Smokehouse Creek fire in Texas.

The company has rejected allegations that it acted "negligently" in retaining and overseeing its infrastructure, Xcel added.

The energy firm has urged impacted people to submit a claim who lost livestock or had property damaged in the Smokehouse Creek fire, Xcel said.

Additionally, the company denied its facilities caused the ignition of the Windy Deuce fire near Fritch, Texas.

Shares of the company were up 4.6% in recent trading.
