Aug 1, 2019 11:13 AM

Reliance Jio started its services in September 2016 and disrupted the telecom sector in India. Cheap tariff plans and affordable phones has seen the telecom upstart become one of the most prominent players in the Indian market.

Reports suggest that mobile data is now cheaper in India than anywhere else in the world.

In an attempt to take Reliance Jio on its next phase of growth, the company has been on an acquisition spree. There is a pattern in all of Jio’s purchases. All acquired startups are new-age, deep tech companies and some of them have a strong focus on rural India.

In this episode of Young Turks, revisit the stories of the two Young Turks Reverie Technologies and Haptik.
