Operation rehabilitation is a massive clean-up drive launched by Kerala FM Thomas Isaac and PWD minister G Sudhakaran.

The mission is to clean-up flood-ravaged Kuttanad, Kerala's rice bowl. Kuttanad, which is below sea-level, has been under water after the floods.

Thomas Isaac put up a post on Facebook, urging Keralites to clean-up Kuttanad. This prompted people from all walks to life to join the clean-up drive which started on Aug 28 and is likely to end on Aug 30.

These include engineers, students, snake catchers, plumbers, ministers and bureaucrats.

According to the minister, over 60,000 people volunteered for the drive and these include 11,319 registered volunteers, people who have returned to Kuttanad from the relief camps and many unregistered volunteers.

The volunteers reached the 16 panchayats of Kuttanad in buses and boats to clean around one lakh buildings including houses, public places and places of worship.

The areas that will be cleaned include Kainakary, Nedumudi, Champakulam and other parts of Kuttanad.

According to Isaac, as of Aug 28, volunteers cleaned 28,757 houses, 288 public offices, 52 schools and 122 public places.
