After election commission of India sounded poll bugle for the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana, the stage is now set for a high-stakes battle in the five states.
The assembly elections in these states will be held between November 12 and December 7, in what could be a virtual semi-final to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Counting of votes will be taken up together in all the five states on December 11.
While Chhattisgarh will go to the polls in two phases on November 12 and 20, the Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram Assembly elections will be held on November 28. Polling in Rajasthan and Telangana will be held on December 7.

Madhya Pradesh
In Madhya Pradesh, the notification will be issued on November 2, while the last date for nominations would be November 9. Scrutiny will be done on November 12 and last date of withdrawal will be November 14. The term of the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly expires on December 15.
Mizoram
In Mizoram, the notification will be issued on November 2, while the last date for nominations would be November 9. Scrutiny will be done on November 12 and last date of withdrawal will be November 14. The term of the with 50-member Mizoram assembly expires on December 15.
Rajasthan
In Rajasthan, the notification will be issued on November 12 and the last date for nominations would be November 19. Scrutiny will be done on November 20 and last date of withdrawal will be November 22. The term of the Rajasthan assembly expires on January 20, 2019.
Telangana
In Telangana, the notification will be issued on November 12 and the last date for nominations would be November 19. Scrutiny will be done on November 20 and last date of withdrawal will be November 22. Telangana chief minister and Telugu Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrashekar Rao had dissolved the 119-member state assembly prematurely on September 6, 2018.
Chhattisgarh
In Chhattisgarh, election will be held on November 12 in affected areas in 18 assembly constituency. In the second phase, the election in 72 constituencies will be held on November 20.
Notification for the first phase will be issued on October 16 and the last date for nominations would be October 23. Scrutiny will take place next day and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations will be October 26.
The notification for the elections in the rest of the 72 constituencies in the second phase would be issued on October 26, while the last day for nominations would be November 2.
Scrutiny will be done on November 3 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations will be November 5. The tenure of Chhattisgarh’s Assembly, comprising 90 members, ends on January 5, 2019.
