Jan 31, 2019 9:30 AM

Finance Minister Piyush Goyal will on February 1 present Narendra Modi government's sixth and final budget, which will be an interim one, keeping up with established tradition.

Healthcare sector is expecting an increase in the government spending on from the current 1 percent. The government in the interim budget may increase investment and scope of Ayushman Bharat.

Arun Jaitley introduced the scheme in the 2018 budget targeting health insurance of Rs 5 lakh cover per year to 50 crore beneficiaries in 10 crore poor and deprived families.

On the other side, the pharma industry is expecting rationalisation of GST into two slabs. It also expects that the government may give tax exemptions for diagnostic devices and cancer and diabetes drugs.
