Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is expected to allocate a considerable amount for the infrastructure sector in the interim budget to be presented on February 1, said sources familiar with the matter.

The sector would see an increase of around 15 percent in the budgetary allocation, sources told Network18, requesting anonymity.

Though it is conventionally an interim budget, Jaitley on Thursday hinted that the government might make some big announcement.

The larger interest of the economy always dictates what goes into the interim budget, including addressing some of the challenges, Jaitley said at the CNBC-TV18 Indian Business Leader Awards.
