ISRO successfully launched two commercial UK earth observation satellites onboard PSLV-C42.
Novasar and S1-4 were successfully placed into their designated orbit, 17 minutes and 45 seconds after the lift off.
PSLV-C42 lifted off from the Satish Dhawan space centre (Sriharikota) at 10:08 pm on September 16. Both the satellites were injected into 583 km sun synchronous orbit.
Novasar will be used for forest mapping, land use and ice cover monitoring, flood and disaster monitoring.
S1-4 will be used for surveying resources, environment monitoring, urban management and disaster monitoring.
The satellites weighing 889 kg belong to surrey satellite technologies (SSTL), United Kingdom.
Satellites were launched as per the commercial agreement between SSTL and ISRO's commerical wing.
