UAE launches 'Golden Card' scheme to attract wealthy investors: Report

A new 'Golden Card' scheme has been announced in the UAE by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who is the vice president and prime minister of the UAE to grant permanent residence to investors and talented individuals, Khaleej Times reported.

The Golden Card will be given to exceptional professionals in areas including medicine, engineering and science. These qualified people along with their families can enjoy unprecedented benefits while creating an attractive environment for business and growth, the report said.

Sheikh Mohammed wrote on Twitter: “Today, we have launched the permanent residency system “golden card”.

The permanent residency “Golden Card” will be granted to exceptional talents and everyone who positively contributes to the success story of the UAE. We want them to be permanent partners in our journey. Residents are an indispensable part of our country.

6,800 investors from over 70 countries have been selected for the permanent residence visas, whose combined investments total more than AED100 billion.
