US firm Flex threatens to leave India over "red tape": report
Oct 14, 2018 11:51 PM

US-based firm Flex has threatened to move its production from Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu to Malaysia, if the concessions promised earlier are not granted, Times of India reported.

The top contract manufacturer for electronics has also alleged the government’s functioning is entangled in "red tape", according to the report.

Flex, a letter sent to IT secretary Ajay Sawhney, said no move has been made by the government on its request, which was made in August, to allow its Chennai factory to get duty-free products from its second unit within a special economic zone (SEZ) in the same location, the report said.

The company told the paper it requested for a waiver of the mandated 20 percent customs duty.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. business inventories fell in March, but this could lay the ground for businesses to rebuild stocks and support economic growth in the second quarter. May 15, 2024
BRASILIA (Reuters) -Brazil's central bank is firmly committed to pursuing its 3% inflation target, board members said on Wednesday, noting that they share concerns about rising price expectations despite disagreements about lowering interest rates at last week's monetary policy meeting. Governor Roberto Campos Neto stressed that the bank will not shy away from the target, while monetary policy director Gabriel...
