Here is CM Kejriwal's 15-point Delhi winter action plan to curb pollution this year

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday (September 29) announced a 15-point winter action plan to curb air pollution in the national capital as the festive season approaches. Kejriwal pointed out that the number of days with severe pollution has reduced over the past eight years, thanks to various government measures, including the introduction of electric buses and the EV Policy.

Arvind Kejriwal on steps taken to curb stubble burning: Diversification of crops, varieties of paddy

On stubble burning, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal says, "In Punjab, we formed our Government in March last year. The data from last year shows the steps taken in 6-7 months led to a 30% reduction in stubble burning. This year Bhagwant Mann has taken several steps. One of which is the diversification of crops - instead of paddy grow other crops. This will save water and lower stubble burning. It has yielded good results. Secondly, the varieties of paddy - the short-term varieties have. This has less stubble and it need not be burnt. Ex-situ management of stubble - for this a few companies have adopted districts and will carry their stubble to convert it into manure or electricity...I think there should be improvement this year."

Delhi winter action plan LIVE Updates: Delhi recorded best air quality in August

Delhi recorded its lowest average Air Quality Index (AQI) in July as compared to the last four years since 2019. During the month, Delhi witnessed heavy rainfall along with gusty winds which resulted in the cleanest air in the month as the AQI stood at 83.71 on July 31.

“The number of ‘Good to Moderate’ Air Quality Days for the 31 days (July) was 26 in the year 2019; 31 in 2020; 29 in 2021; 31 in 2022; and 31 in the current year 2023,” sahowed the data from Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, ANI reported.

CM Arvind Kejriwal to announce Delhi's winter action plan today

Environment Minister Gopal Rai said earlier this week that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will unveil the government’s winter action plan to curb air pollution on Friday. “We are preparing a winter action plan to curb winter pollution in Delhi on the basis of reports and suggestions given by 28 different departments and agencies. A joint meeting regarding framing of the plan was held on September 14 with these departments, and different responsibilities were assigned to all of them. Instructions have also been issued to all construction agencies to strictly follow the norms related to dust pollution,” Rai was quoted by the Hindustan Times as saying.
