Amidst the global challenge posed by the escalating threat of climate change, The Rockefeller Foundation has made a resolute commitment, allocating over $1 billion as part of a comprehensive 5-year strategy aimed at advancing worldwide climate solutions.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Rajiv Shah, the President of The Rockefeller Foundation, emphasised their mission to unite international leaders under a shared vision and leverage technology for addressing this pressing issue.
Furthermore, The Rockefeller Foundation aims to attain a science-driven net-zero standard for its global operations.
This significant investment coincides with a noteworthy shift in the climate policies of the United Kingdom, where Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a revision of deadlines for the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles as well as the phase-out of gas boilers. The previously established 2030 deadline has been extended to 2035, with Sunak justifying the extension by citing the need for households and individuals to adapt gradually to alternative heating solutions.
Shah also expressed concerns about the political discourse surrounding climate change in countries like the United States, China, and other major economies with substantial emissions, where debates about the reality of climate change persist.
