02:50 AM EDT, 05/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:
We lift our 12-month target price by $10, to $130, valuing HIG shares at 10.2x our 2026 operating EPS estimate, versus its three-year average forward multiple of 9.2x and a peer average of 15x. We cut our 2025 EPS estimate by $0.70, to $10.75. Q1 operating EPS of $2.20 versus $2.34 lagged our $2.90 EPS estimate, but topped the $2.15 consensus view. Results mainly reflected 7.3% higher operating revenues (versus our 7% to 10% growth forecast) amid 7% higher premiums (versus our 7%-10% forecast), and an 11% rise in investment income (6% to 10%), offset by an 11% rise in loss costs (HIG's largest expense item) amid the California wildfires. Weighing HIG's healthy top-line growth and the 9% rise in Q1 net written premiums with the shares' valuation, we view the shares, trading at over 2x book value (a premium to peers) and at 11.4x our 2025 EPS estimate (a 24% premium to historical averages), as fairly valued but worth holding.
