August could see highest monthly FPI flow in 10 years, says CLSA
Aug 28, 2020 6:03 AM

India has outperformed other emerging markets in terms of inflows from foreign portfolio investors (FPI). The FPI equity inflows in August 2020 so far stands at $6 billion mark.

Analysts believe that the recent share sale by many listed companies and reducing interest rates have attracted the foreign investors’ money into Indian equities.

Vikash Kumar Jain, Senior Analyst at CLSA in conversation with CNBC-TV18 said expects to see rotation in sectors now and believes things will get much more stock-specific now.

He said, “If we were to look at FPI ownership and FPI flows, this particular month is already tracking to be the highest monthly inflow in over 10 years. Maybe it has helped by a host of these stakes sales which have happened, but it is already tracking to be one of the best months in terms of FPI inflows that is seeing for India. India has anyways been a favoured market if we were to look at other emerging market peers in terms of FPI inflows.”
