Overall, vehicle sales in India registered a rise of 15.16% in April-May 2018, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in a report on Monday.

The industry produced a total 5,378,591 vehicles in April-May 2018, which includes passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheeler, two-wheeler and quadricycle.
According to data available, vehicle sales in India registered a growth of 12.13% to 22.82 lakh units from 20.35 lakh units.

The sale of domestic passenger vehicles sold in May 2018, registered a rise of 19.7% to 3.01 lakh units.
Total two-wheeler sales in May rose 9.2% to 18.50 lakh units compared to 16.94 lakh units in the year-ago month.
Sales in the commercial vehicles segment was up 43.1% to 76,478 units sold, while the utility vehicle segment rose to 17.5% at 82,086 units sold, SIAM said.
The medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) witnessed a growth of 80.2% at 30,128 units sold, at the same time, the light commercial vehicles (LCV) saw an uptick of 26.2% at 46,350 units sold year-on-year, on the backdrop of low base last year after change over from BSIII to BSIV, according to SIAM.
Total vehicles in the month of May 2018 was up 23.8% at 3.98 lakh units sold.
