Closing Bell ## Closing Bell

Markets failed to sustain any recovery made today. Nifty closed just above 10,100 today. BSE's Sensex closed at 33,001, though recovered from lows, was down by 130 points. The Sensex faced a day of first erasing market gains in the noon and then picking up to trading at day's high - remaining volatile the whole day. Midcaps underperformed with the index closing with a 1% cut. The market breadth was in favour of declines and the Advance-Decline ratio stood at1:4.

ICICI Bank & SBI remain to be the biggest index laggards for the second day in a row. Reliance and HDFC Bank were among the top index gainers in the volatile session

Market update

BSE's Sensex has regained 33,100 levels and NSE's Nifty has managed to pull back to a safe 10,100 range. The midcaps, however, continue to underperform. Nifty Bank is also pulling up, with HDFC Bank at its day's high and HDFC recovering off its lows.
