-Last-hour surge helps market close the Tuesday’s session off lows

-Nifty gains 85 points from the intra-day low of 11,908 to end near 12,000

-Sensex recovers 283 points & Nifty Bank 310 points from lows

-Midcap index gains 165 points from lows to settle at 17,726

-IT & PSU stocks lead the last-hour recovery; SBI, Infosys, TCS top gainers

-IT lifts Nifty by 12 points while financials and telecom drag by 34 points

-Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, Bharti Infratel under pressure on the AGR issue

Domestic stock markets settled Tuesday's trade in the red, as a revenue warning from tech giant Apple Inc signalled mounting financial fallout on businesses from the coronavirus epidemic in China. The rapidly spreading virus has killed nearly 1,900 in China and stricken some 72,000 people. The Sensex lost 161.31 points, or 0.39 percent, to settle Tuesday's trade at 40,894.38. The Nifty fell by 38.10points, or 0.32 percent, to end at 11,992.50. The Nifty MidCap 100 index lost 0.56 percent, while the banking gauge, Nifty Bank declined 0.39 percent. Metals, banks and auto sectors were the worst hit, while only IT outperformed. Bharti Infratel shares ended 11 percent lower.

SBI Cards and Payment Services has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India for its proposed initial public offering and may launch the IPO next month. SBI Cards is in process of finalising the timelines for the IPO in the next two days and plans to launch the IPO by early March, reported Mint, citing two people aware of the development. The SBI Cards IPO receives Sebi approval on February 11 and is reportedly aiming to raise about up to Rs 6,000 crore. -Benchmark indices were lower today as investors fear that Indian companies may cut their forecast for revenues as concerns rose over the spread of coronavirus hurting overall economic growth. -Heavy selling in the shares of major banks on concerns that their loans to Vodafone Idea may turn non-performing following the Supreme Court's ruling on adjusted gross revenue dues, also weighed.

-At 3 pm, the Nifty50 index was at 11,968, down 0.64 percent, while the BSE-Sensex was at 40,808, down 0.62 percent.
