The European markets traded in the red at the opening hour on Wednesday. The British FTSE was last trading 0.1 percent higher. French CAC was trading 0.9 percent in the red, while the biggest European market by volume, German DAX was down 0.2 percent.

The indices ended largely higher on Tuesday. FTSE ended 0.2 percent higher, while CAC ended 0.2 percent in the red.
Wall Street ended ended higher in the previous session. Dow ended 0.1 percent higher, while S&P and Nasdaq closed 0.3 percent and 0.6 percent higher, respectively.
The US Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates to the highest level in 22 years. The Federal Open Market Committee or FOMC is expected to raise rates a quarter point to the 5.25 percent to 5.5 percent range, an 11th increase since early 2022.
The European markets are also taking cues from their Asian counterparts. Japan's Nikkei was last trading marginally lower, while China's Shanghai Composite was trading 0.3 percent in the red. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was also trading 0.3 percent lower.
At the last count, Brent crude futures were trading 0.1 percent lower at $83.5 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate futures, too, were trading 0.2 percent lower at $79.5 per barrel.
