Broad-market exchange-traded funds, including IWM and IVV, were lower. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was down less than 0.1%.

US equity indexes were mixed in choppy trading and government bond yields jumped with the dollar after midday on Wednesday.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) lost 0.9% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) edged down 1%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was down 0.6%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were lower.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) was fractionally lower and iShares PHLX Semiconductor (SOXX) fell 1%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) fell 0.7%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) down 1.9% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was up 2%.

Commodities

Crude was up less than 0.1%; United States Oil Fund (USO) rose 0.2%. Natural gas was down 4.4% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) lost 2.3%.

Gold was down 0.9% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell 0.9%. Silver was down less than 0.1% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was fractionally lower.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) lost 0.2%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were lower.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 1.3%; retail funds VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) fell 0.1% and other funds iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. Biotech ETF iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was 1% down.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) lost 0.3% and other industrial funds iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were lower.
