Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV dropped. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was down 1.4%.
US equity indexes fell after President Donald Trump accused China of breaching a preliminary trade agreement, with his tirade coming a day after a federal appeals court agreed to stay a ruling that blocked the bulk of import tariffs.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) each fell 1.3%.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) dipped 1.5%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also fell.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) dropped 4%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) declined 3.5%.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) slipped 0.5%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) fell 1.6%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), rose 1.5%.
Commodities
Crude oil dipped 1.3%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) was down 0.9%. Natural gas fell 1.7%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) lost 1.5%.
Gold was 1% lower on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) fell 0.7%. Silver was down 1.5%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) lost 1.5%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) added 0.8%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) also edged higher.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) fell 1.1%; VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was up 0.3%, while SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) was down 0.4%.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) dropped 0.1%, iShares US Healthcare (IYH), and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) also declined. iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) dropped 2.7%.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) was down 0.4%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were in the red.
