Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV declined. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was down 0.5%.
US equity indexes dropped after midday trading Friday after Israel's strikes against Iran sent crude oil and gold futures sharply higher.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) each rose about 1.1%.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) fell 0.7%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were also lower.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) lost 1.4%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) dipped 1.4%.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) moved 1.4% lower. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) edged down 4.2%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), gained 4.5%.
Commodities
Crude oil added 5.8%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) rose 5.6%. Natural gas gained 1.6%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 0.3% up.
Gold was 1.4% higher on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) rose 1.2%. Silver was 0.2% up, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) eased 0.2%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) fell 0.7%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and the iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) also edged lower.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was up 0.1%; VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was down 0.3%, and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) lost 1.1%.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) was up 0.1%. iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) edged up. iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) dipped 0.3%.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) was 0.3% down. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were also in the red.
