Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Trend Higher After Midday Trading

12:59 PM EDT, 07/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM and IVV were higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) rose nearly 0.7%.

US equity indexes rose in choppy trading as investors weighed the durable goods orders and economic growth data amid a slew of quarterly results.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) rose 1.3% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) was 1.5% higher.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) added 1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) rose 0.6% and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) added 0.2%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) climbed 1.6%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 4.2% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) fell 4%.

Commodities

Crude was up 0.7%; United States Oil Fund (USO) climbed 0.8%. Natural gas dropped 2.3% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 209%.

Gold was down 2.3% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) was 1.6% lower. Silver lost 4.3% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) fell 3.6%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) rose 0.4%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were rising.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) added 1%; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were higher.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) edged up 0.3%; iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were higher. iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) gained 2.1%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) was up 2%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) were higher.
