French cos committed to invest in 'Make in India', says French Ambassador to India Emmanuel Lenain
Nov 13, 2020 1:49 PM

French Ambassador to India Emmanuel Lenain on Friday said French companies are committed to invest in the 'Make in India' initiative launched by the Narendra Modi government.

Recently, when France witnessed terror attacks and faced boycott calls, PM Modi sent a strong message of solidarity saying India stands with France against terror. France has been working around the clock during the pandemic to ensure timely delivery of the Rafale Jets.

But the relationship isn't limited to strategic ties alone. France is the 9th largest foreign investor in India and there are over 150 Indian companies operating in France employing more than 7,000 people and bilateral trade in 2019 was approximately 11.6 billion euros. France is also actively wooing Indian companies and is rolling out tax incentives to attract more investments.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, the French Trade Commissioner to India Eric Fajole said France can be India's gateway to Europe and Africa. To discuss the India-France relationship, Parikshit Luthra spoke to Emmanuel Lenain French Ambassador to India and Eric Fajole French Trade Commissioner.
