Investors Look to End Week on Positive Note as US Futures Tread Water in Friday's Premarket Session

08:07 AM EDT, 09/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US stock futures were treading water in Friday's premarket session ahead of consumer sentiment and expectations readings, as well as import and export data set to be released later in the morning.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were up 0.11%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.16%, and Nasdaq futures nudged 0.02% higher.

Oil prices were moving higher, with front-month global benchmarks Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate crude rising 0.93% and 1.13% respectively.

In equities, shares of Tenon Medical ( TNON ) skyrocketed 231% in Friday's premarket activity, adding to a 45% gain the previous session. The company said late Thursday that it is planning to launch in early Q4 a new joint fusion system that offers a 30% reduction in implant size. Vision Marine Technologies ( VMAR ) shares soared 93% after 5.6% loss on Thursday. And Singular Genomics Systems ( OMIC ) shares jumped 58% after it said late Thursday that it received a non-binding proposal from Deerfield Management to buy all of the company's shares it doesn't already own for $10 each in cash.

On the losing side, shares of Wang & Lee Group ( WLGS ) tumbled 19%, eating into a 41% gain on Thursday. Telesis Bio ( TBIO ) shares shed 18%, more than erasing a 6.5% gain from the previous session. The company said on Tuesday that it will ask the Securities and Exchange Commission to remove its listing on the Nasdaq around Sept. 20. Shares of Visionary Holdings ( GV ) also dropped 18% after soaring 118% Thursday when it said it signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund to secure a $120 million investment to support its industrial projects.
