The Indian market traded volatile on Thursday with IT, consumer, pharma and auto stocks dragging indexes lower. The BSE Sensex traded at 34,330.63, lower by 111.42 points around noon, while the NSE Nifty50 was down by 40 points at 10,346.50.

The 30-share BSE gauge had opened at 34,650, while the 50-share NSE index started at 10,441.70.
Broader market indices outperformed their frontline peers with the Nifty MidCap trading higher by 0.75 percent. The BSE MidCap was also trading higher by 0.78 percent.
Among sectoral indexes, as many as 27 stocks advanced with BSE Capital Goods leading by 3.5 percent along with BSE Industrials, Nifty Realty, Nifty Infra and BSE Realty. Nifty IT, BSE IT, BSE Teck, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Phamra declined by up to 2.44 percent.
As many as 31 stocks advanced against 18 declines on the Nifty MidCap index with DHFL leading with more than 5 percent gains. Exide Industries was the biggest laggard on the mdicap index.
Among top the gainers, Yes Bank, L&T, Indiabulls Housing Finance, IndusInd Bank, BPCL, Axis Bank and Tata Motors rose by up to 6.5 percent. Yes Bank surged more than 6 percent on value buying and was the top performer on the Nifty.
Among top losers, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Gail, Infosys, Bharti Infratel, Infosys, Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, ITC and TCS slipped lower by up to 3.37 percent. IT stocks slipped, weighed down by stronger rupee against the US dollar.
