08:09 AM EDT, 08/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were higher pre-bell Thursday as traders digested quarterly earnings from chipmaker Nvidia ( NVDA ) ahead of a deluge of economic data.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.7%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.3%, and Nasdaq futures were up 0.4%.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) reported late Wednesday higher fiscal Q2 adjusted earnings and revenue that topped analysts' estimates.
Oil prices were higher, with front-month global benchmark North Sea Brent crude up 0.3% at $77.84 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude up 0.5% at $74.92 per barrel.
US gross domestic product, scheduled for release at 8:30 am ET, is seen coming in unchanged from the first estimate at a 2.8% growth in the second estimate for Q2, according to estimates compiled by Bloomberg.
Trade in goods deficit, also slated for 8:30 am ET, is seen widening to $97.7 billion in July from $96.8 billion in the previous month. No change is expected for new unemployment claims at 232,000 in the week ended Aug. 24 versus the prior week.
Pending home sales, due at 10 am ET, is seen rising 0.2% in July versus June's 4.8% increase.
