Opening Bell: Sensex opens 130 points higher, Nifty above 12,900; broader markets gain

The Indian market opened higher on Thursday amid a mixed trend in global peers.

At 9:15 am, the Sensex opened 139.30 points higher at 43,967.40 while the Nifty50 index opened at 12,906.50, up 48 points. Broader markets also gained, about half a percent each.

About 707 shares have advanced, 217 shares declined, and 52 shares are unchanged.

Barring IT, all sectors are in the positive territory. Nifty Auto surged the most, 0.79 percent, followed by Nifty Realty and Nifty Media.

M&M, Bajaj Auto, Grasim, Shree Cement and L&T were the Nifty50 top gainers in the morning session while TCS, Infosys, Nestle India, IndusInd Bank and Eicher Motors remained the index top losers.
