03:05 PM EST, 11/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were lower late Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index decreasing 0.6% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) down 0.2%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index dropped 2%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities index was rising 1%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil eased 0.1% to $68.85 a barrel while the global benchmark Brent crude contract was down 0.2% to $72.89 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures rose 1.8% to $3.43 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, TotalEnergies (TTE) has paused work on a wind farm off the coast of New York following Donald Trump's presidential election victory, Reuters reported, citing a statement from Chief Executive Patrick Pouyanne. TotalEnergies shares were falling 1.5%.
