01:28 PM EDT, 07/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were lower Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index decreasing 0.3% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) easing 0.2%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index was down 0.5%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities index was adding 0.2%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 0.9% to $65.42 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract shed 0.7% to $68.71 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures increased 0.4% to $3.10 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Teck Resources ( TECK ) shares fell past 4% after JPMorgan downgraded the stock to neutral from overweight and cut its price target to $56 from $63.
