03:31 PM EST, 12/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were lower late Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index down 0.8% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) shedding 0.9%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was falling 1.1%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was increasing 0.8%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 1.3% to $56.71 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract dropped 1.1% to $60.45 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 2.3% to $4.02 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Chevron ( CVX ) cut its price offers on Venezuelan crude sold to US refiners after the US government last week seized a tanker in the Caribbean with Venezuelan oil, Bloomberg reported. Chevron ( CVX ) shares were down 0.4%.
