Sector Update: Energy Stocks Edge Higher Premarket Wednesday

09:24 AM EDT, 07/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were edging higher premarket Wednesday with the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLE ) recently up 0.03%.

The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was down 0.2% and the United States Natural Gas Fund ( UNG ) was 0.5% lower.

Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 0.01% at $81.42 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 0.1% to $84.62 per barrel. Natural gas futures were down 0.1% at $2.341 per 1 million British Thermal Units.

Honeywell ( HON ) has agreed to acquire Air Products and Chemicals' ( APD ) liquefied natural gas process technology and equipment business in a $1.81 billion all-cash deal, the companies said. Air Products and Chemicals ( APD ) was up nearly 1% premarket.

Kodiak Gas Services ( KGS ) filed a mixed-shelf registration statement. Kodiak Gas Services ( KGS ) rose past 1% pre-bell.

Shell (SHEL) subsidiary Shell Overseas Holdings said it signed an agreement to invest in Abu Dhabi National Oil's Ruwais liquefied natural gas project through a 10% interest. Shell was 0.3% higher pre-bell.
