01:45 PM EDT, 06/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks rose Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) each rising about 1.3%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index added 1.1%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index fell 0.4%.
Oil prices jumped after Israel targeted Iran's nuclear facilities in a series of airstrikes, with ING Bank saying that an escalation may drive prices above $80 a barrel.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil surged 6.7% to $72.58 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent soared 6.6% to $73.90 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures gained 1.5% to $3.54 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Chord Energy ( CHRD ) , Coterra Energy ( CTRA ) and Tesla (TSLA) were blacklisted by Swedish pension fund AP7. Chord shares rose 2.3%, and Coterra gained 1.1%.
Flowco ( FLOC ) shares popped 4.4%. The company said Thursday its board approved a share repurchase program of up to $50 million in class A stock.
Infinity Natural Resources ( INR ) shares rose 1.5% after SWS Research initiated coverage on the company with a buy rating and a $23 price target.
