01:50 PM EDT, 05/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) each adding 0.2%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index climbed 1.6%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index rose 0.8%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 0.7% to $58.64 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was also advancing 0.7% to $61.49 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures popped 3% to $3.43 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Oil States International ( OIS ) shares jumped nearly 22% after it reported Q1 adjusted net income of $0.06 per diluted share, compared with a loss of $0.03 a year earlier. Four analysts polled by FactSet expected earnings of $0.04.
HF Sinclair ( DINO ) shares rose 3.2% after it posted a smaller-than-expected Q1 loss.
Antero Midstream ( AM ) shares climbed 1% after it reported higher Q1 adjusted earnings and revenue.
