Sector Update: Financial Stocks Edge Higher Pre-Bell Thursday

09:19 AM EDT, 06/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were edging higher pre-bell Thursday with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLF ) advancing 0.02% recently.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares ( FAS ) was up 0.2% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares ( FAZ ) was 0.1% lower.

Carlyle Group ( CG ) was up more than 1% after saying it has agreed to acquire the Italy, Egypt, and Croatia gas-weighted exploration and production assets of Energean.

Nasdaq (NDAQ) Stockholm has been fined 100 million Swedish krona ($9.6 million) by Sweden's financial supervisory authority for not complying with stock market rules on multiple occasions in the last few years, the regulator said. Nasdaq declined by over 1% pre-bell.

PayPal Holdings ( PYPL ) said it appointed Srini Venkatesan as chief technology officer, effective June 24, succeeding Archie Deskus. PayPal Holdings ( PYPL ) was 0.2% higher premarket.
