Sector Update: Financial Stocks Mixed Tuesday Afternoon

01:43 PM EST, 02/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were mixed in Tuesday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index up 0.2% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) easing 0.1%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index was adding 0.9%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was 0.1% lower.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was declining 0.4% to $99,135, and the yield of 10-year US Treasuries was falling 2 basis points to 4.52%.

In economic news, China imposed retaliatory measures on Tuesday after President Donald Trump announced a 10% tariff on Chinese goods over the weekend.

US job openings fell to 7.6 million in December, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, lower than the 8 million openings expected in a Bloomberg survey.

In corporate news, PayPal ( PYPL ) issued a strong bottom-line outlook as Q4 earnings unexpectedly rose, though its Q1 revenue guidance implied a sequential deceleration. Its shares fell nearly 12%.

PJT Partners ( PJT ) shares jumped past 10% after it reported Q4 results that topped analysts' estimates.

KKR (KKR) said Tuesday it has raised its offer for Fuji Soft to 9,850 Japanese yen ($63.45) per share, from 9,451 yen previously. KKR shares fell 8%.
