Sector Update: Financial Stocks Rise Thursday Afternoon

01:55 PM EST, 02/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks rose in Thursday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index climbing 0.6% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) adding 0.5%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index shed 0.5%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) rose 0.1%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) declined 0.3% to $96,355, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries rose 4 basis points to 4.42%.

In economic news, US initial jobless claims in the week ended Feb. 1 rose to 219,000 from 208,000 in the previous week, compared with expectations for 213,000 in a survey of analysts compiled by Bloomberg.

In sector news, the Federal Reserve told six big banks they will not need to submit climate stress test data in 2025 as the program has been shut down, Bloomberg reported.

In corporate news, Paysafe ( PSFE ) shares jumped 18% after Bloomberg reported the company is weighing a potential sale after receiving takeover interest.

Colliers International ( CIGI ) shares dropped over 11% after its Q4 adjusted earnings missed market expectations.

ING (ING) shares were down 0.9% after the company reported lower Q4 earnings and unchanged revenue from a year earlier.
