In corporate news, Moderna ( MRNA ) said Wednesday that it is onshoring drug product manufacturing to its Moderna Technology Center in Norwood, Massachusetts. The company said the move boosts its US commercial and clinical supply capabilities, and reflects more than $140 million in planned investment. Its shares were down 3.5%.
Alkermes ( ALKS ) faces pressure to secure the buyout of Avadel Pharmaceuticals ( AVDL ) even at a higher premium after Avadel's board declared Lundbeck's unsolicited bid a superior proposal, RBC Capital Markets said in a Wednesday note. Alkermes ( ALKS ) shares were down 1.8%, while Avadel was adding 0.3%.
Agios Pharmaceuticals ( AGIO ) shares tumbled 50% after the company said its potential sickle cell disease treatment mitapivat failed to meet one of two primary endpoints in a 52-week phase 3 trial.
