The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose 0.3%.
In corporate news, Eli Lilly ( LLY ) said Friday it's investing an additional $5.3 billion into its manufacturing site in Lebanon, Indiana, bringing its total investment to $9 billion. The company's shares were fractionally higher.
Guardant Health ( GH ) shares jumped almost 13% after a panel of the US Food and Drug Administration's Medical Devices Advisory Committee recommended approval of the company's Shield blood test for colorectal cancer screening in adults who are at least 45 years old and at average risk for the disease.
CG Oncology ( CGON ) shares climbed 8.4% after the company said its phase 2 trial of cretostimogene plus pembrolizumab to treat bladder cancer met its primary endpoint.
