The Philadelphia Semiconductor index added 1.3%.

In corporate news, Texas Instruments ( TXN ) shares fell 3.8% after Chief Financial Officer Rafael Lizardi reportedly said that the company's recovery is not happening with the velocity that some have anticipated.
