Closing Bell: Market ends over 1% higher, Nifty above 11,800; ICICI Bank with gains of 6.6 percent

Indian shares ended on a higher note on Tuesday supported by the gains in financials. ICICI Bank, SBI and HDFC contributed the most, ending up to 7 percent higher. While, Reliance Industries ended 1.3 percent lower.

At close, the Sensex was up 503.55 points or 1.27 percent at 40261.13, and the Nifty was up 144.30 points or 1.24 percent at 11813.50. About 1391 shares have advanced, 1215 shares declined, and 179 shares are unchanged.

ICICI Bank, Hindalco, SBI, HDFC and Power Grid Corp were among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers were UPL, NTPC, Reliance Industries, Nestle and HCL Tech.

Except realty, all other sectoral indices ended in the green led by the bank, metal and pharma.

Sun Pharma's Q2 consolidated net profit surges to Rs 1,812.79 crore

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries' reported September quarter's consolidated net profit at Rs 1,812.79 crore as against Rs 1,064 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, a jump of 70 percent year-on-year (YoY).

Revenue from operations (on consolidated basis) rose 5.3 percent YoY to Rs 8,553.13 crore as compared to Rs 8,123 crore for the same quarter last year.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) climbed 22.5 percent YoY to Rs 2,193.3 crore as compared to last year's Rs 1,789.7 crore.

Bandhan Bank shares jump over 4% after CLSA raises target price

CLSA reiterated a 'Buy' rating with its target price raised to Rs 430 from Rs 400, valuing the bank at 2.9x Sep-22CL ABV.

CLSA is of the view that these premium valuations are justified due to its high RoA profile and growth.

“Bandhan Bank reported a strong set of numbers with improved asset quality trends, greater collection efficiency of Micro banking book in October, and the cumulative Covid-19 provision guidance being maintained at 3.5%. Strong liabilities momentum continued with CASA at 38.2% (up 110bps QoQ), retail deposits at 77% of overall deposits, and cost of funds reporting a 20bp improvement sequentially,” CLSA said. Blackstone starts talks to launch IPO by Aadhar Housing Finance: Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager and the largest owner of commercial real estate in India, has launched early-stage discussions to evaluate an initial public offering (IPO) by its portfolio company Aadhar Housing Finance, people familiar with the matter told Moneycontrol.

If plans fructify, this would be the first IPO in the Indian housing finance segment in more than two years. The last one came from Jaipur-based Aavas Financiers, which launched its Rs 1,640-crore IPO on October 25, 2018.

The listing of Aadhar Housing Finance would also be the first IPO of an Indian portfolio company backed by the US private equity giant in the past five years. In October 2015, fragrance maker SH Kelkar backed by Blackstone launched a Rs 500-crore IPO. (Source: Moneycontrol)
