Closing Bell: Sensex, Nifty end off day's high amid volatility; GAIL, IndusInd Bank top gainers
The Indian market ended higher on Monday continuing the streak of gains from last week. However, the market remained extremely volatile during the day, swinging between gains and losses.
At close, Sensex ended 83 points higher to 34,370.58 while Nifty50 ended 25 points higher to 10,167.45.
Nifty Media and Nifty Pharma indices remained a top drag to the Indian market. While, IT and banks continued to trade in the green.
GAIL, IndusInd Bank, BPCL, Axis Bank and ONGC remained the Nifty50 top gainers while Zee Entertainment, Shree Cement, Eicher Motors, M&M and Bharti Infratel were the index top losers.

J Kumar Infraprojects share price gains over 4% post COVID-19 update
J Kumar Infraprojects shares surged on Monday after the company released its COVID-19 update. In its filing to exchanges, it said that majority of the projects have suffered due to the lockdown. Expect sales and profitability for Q4FY20 and Q1FY21 to be adversely impacted. However, March quarter has been seasonally strong in terms of revenue."
It further said that it has sufficient working capital requirements to meet operational requirement. Do not foresee difficulties in meeting loan, interest and other commitments, it added.
The stock gained as much as 4.47 percent to Rs 98 per share on the NSE. At 2:42 pm, the shares traded 0.75 percent higher at Rs 94.50.

IL&FS sells 50% stake in GIFT City to Gujarat govt for Rs 33 crore
Debt-laden IL&FS on Monday said it has completed the sale of its 50 percent stake in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) to the Gujarat government for Rs 32.71 crore. The stake sale will help the group reduce its debt by Rs 1,230 crore. The group's current outstanding debt is around Rs 94,000 crore. IL&FS has duly received Rs 32.71 crore as equity value for shares as a sale consideration, a release said. The stake sale was approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) last month. European markets open lower as focus remains on pandemic and protests
European stocks opened lower Monday as markets weigh an economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing global protests against racism, reported CNBC International.
The pan-European Stoxx 600 fell 0.8 percent at the start of trading, with household goods shedding 1.6 percent to lead losses while oil and gas stocks bucked the trend to climb 1.5%.
The choppy open expected for European markets marks a divergence from the largely positive trend seen in Asia and the U.S. Stocks in Asia traded mostly higher in Monday, and U.S. stock futures were slightly higher, after U.S. jobs data released Friday showed an unexpected jump, spurring hopes of an economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
