The NSE Nifty50 ended 0.39 percent lower to 11,234.35 on Wednesday, while the BSE Sensex declined 0.45 percent to close at 37,121.22.

Indian equity indices erased early gains to close lower, declining for a third straight session, dragged by heavyweight stocks such as HDFC twins, Reliance Industries, banks and consumer stocks.

Investors took to profit-booking as the rupee neared its record low levels during the closing hour of trade on Wednesday.

These are the stocks that trended among the most in the stock market today:

Titan: Shares hit a six-month low of Rs 786.10 as brokerage CLSA cuts target price to Rs 720. Shares ended marginally up by 0.37 percent to Rs 827.95.

Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management: At close, shares tanked 12.47 percent to Rs 187, after hitting a life-low of Rs 185.05.

HDFC AMC: Shares plunged 8.65 percent to Rs 1,403.25. Intraday, it hit Rs 1.396.50, its lowest ever.

Strides Pharma Science: Pharma company shares dipped as much as 5.2 percent to Rs 472.35, its lowest since August 24. It settled at Rs 490.50, lower by 1.55 percent.

Tata Steel: Shares rose over 2.5 percent to Rs 630.80, its highest since May 17. The stock quoted at Rs 621.80, rising by 1.48 percent at close.

HDFC Bank: Shares closed at Rs 1,962.15, slipping by 1.36 percent, losing Rs 27.05 in value. The index heavyweight stock ended below its 200 day moving average of Rs 1,977.36. The stock had opened at Rs 1,994.85 and touched a high of Rs 1,998 and a low of Rs 1,956.50.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises: Shares extended losses for the second consecutive session with the stock dipping more than three percent. It quoted at Rs 450.10, losing Rs 14.45 in value or by 3.11 percent.

KIOCL: Shares dropped by daily limit of 20 percent to Rs 183.2. It quoted at Rs 184.90 at close, plunging by 19.26 percent.

Maruti Suzuki India: The country’s largest automaker fell 2.35 percent to Rs 8,202, losing Rs 197.15 in value at close. It hit the day's low of Rs 8,191.15, after opening at Rs 8,425.50.

DCM Shriram: Shares ended 11.76 percent higher at Rs 472.35, adding Rs 49.70 in value.
